Ah, as the name suggest, it wasn't the first time i was there for camp.
Excluding NPCC related camps and activities, it has been the third time i've been there for camp.
And what do you know?
It's the same campsite i was at during the camp during Secondary 3.
It has been years since i went back there.
Lemme see... About 3 or 4 years? It was the Secondary 4 High Rope Course (HRC).
Ah, i remember vividly, the leap of faith and my regrets of not being able to try the flying fox there =/
Let alone that, most NPCC camps were held there too.
Thus, in short, i'm somewhat a veteran in Ubin. (Emphasis is on the 'somewhat')
I must say, this camp's activities is much lenient as compared to the other camps i have went.
In terms of the length (2 days, 1night. Nothing compared to OBS's 5 days 4 night) and activities (Again, nothing on par with OBS's continuous trekking and 1 full day of kayaking around the island, or NPCC's morning PT)
But having said so, the challenges given by the higher-ups (yes, the one on top), was what made the camp challenging.
You could say, i was toughen up by all these.
Which in turn makes me wonder, my looks doesn't describe the activities i have done before huh?
Don't judge a book by its cover~ ^_^
And perhaps i shall cover what has happened for the two days by the days.
It's more easier to relate to =)
So on day 1...
I woke up as early, as if going to school.
Panicked for a while, whether if i have forgotten to bring anything.
Then head out to school.
Reaching school, i looked at the number of people attending the camp.
Well, didn't expect it to be everybody. But it was all good.
Started with drawing out the equipments (I hate it, admin stuff =/ )
Passed our stuff and head to the jetty.
Took a boat there.
I missed taking the boat there. And honestly, i have already regretted not taking my camera there.
Even in the boat, i already know what to take, and saw what i wanna take.
Love the boat to be rocking back and forth by the waves. Missing them quite alot.
Though others are kind of panicking and jittery, i find that enjoyable.
The salt spray and all, the rythmn and all.
It's all nostalgic.
Reaching Ubin, we gathered at the court in front of the visitor/tourism office.
It's rather unsavory as it was mid-day and the sun is hanging right up in the sky.
Imagine the heat? Hahaha~
We were then given clues and started our land expedition, which ultimately would lead us to our campsite.
So our few hours long expedition starts there.
And throughout the whole expedition, i was hit with waves of nostalgia.
All the landmarks i used to past, i could remember, but there's an inkling of memory there.
And all the picturesque views, all the more made my regrets of not bringing a camera deeper =/
We reached the campsite, only to realise that it is the very campsite i used to camp at during the Secondary 3 camp. Vivid bad experiences.
It was like a deja vu, history repeating itself.
Why?
At about 4 am or a little later, there was a downpour, then a storm.
Tents went down, one by one.
Well, our tents stayed up right, but water seeps in.
Nothing was saved from the rain. All was wet =/
But how cool was that? Staying in a tent while in a heavy storm.
It feels quite nice actually, until the water seeps in from below =_=
Well, after that, we didn't sleep till dawn breaks.
So you could say it is like a wake-up alarm clock to the next day.
There was a friendly rafting competition between the three teams there.
And it made me feel so lucky to have prior knowledge on building a raft.
Hahaha~ Campcraft i have learnt during my NPCC days has done me proud ^_^
It was held in RP's very own quarry in Ubin.
And the water is so clear, i could see my own leg inside the water.
And well, the water taste like sodium bicarbonate-ed water (Okay, i sipped a little. They said it was ok.)
It think that was what which made me enjoyed the whole camp.
It was really really nice.
But i realised, i have phobia of swimming in water too.
We went back after that.
On the boat journey and bus journey back, everyone knocked out.
Slept so soundly.
It's of no wonder, right? Haha~
And coming to the part i hate the most.
Cleaning up while being shagged out, isn't one of the most enjoyable job to do.
Well, this wraps up most of the stuff.
You know, i am accustomed to camps, thanks to NPCC.
But i don't think that is the kind of lifestyle i would want to have.
I'm not a sporty kind of person. I have short stamina limits.
And though strong, my body is pretty weak compared to my peers.
I hate camps alot.
But i must admit, all the camps i have went are like bitter medicine.
Bitter to taste, but sweet to remember.
